Forex or Foam Board?

Both are rigid-board prints, but they are the right answer to different jobs.

This is the question we hear most from customers ordering panel prints. The short answer: where the panel will sit and how long it needs to last largely decides the material.

Forex (PVC sheet)

Made from rigid PVC, it is heavier and stronger. It is largely unaffected by moisture, so it works indoors and outdoors. It is the usual choice for signage, wayfinding boards and panels that stay in place for a long time. Thicknesses of 3, 5 and 10 mm are the most common.

Foam board

It is a foam core faced with paper on both sides. It is very light, easy to carry and can be hung without damaging a wall — but it is sensitive to corner knocks and to moisture. Ideal for presentations, exhibitions, trade fairs and short campaigns.

How to choose

If the panel will live outdoors or stay in place for months, choose Forex; if it is indoors, short-term and moved often, foam board is usually the better call. If you are unsure, describe where it will go and we will decide together.
